When Were Plastic Water Bottles Invented?

Bottles made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) were first invented in 1973 by engineer Nathaniel Wyeth. In addition to being the first plastic bottles to be able to resist the pressure of carbonated drinks, they were also a far more cost-effective alternative to glass bottles.
